As a result of injuries to his knee, shoulder, and lower back suffered as a peace officer, Bob Lozito is no stranger to surgeries. He has been seeing Dr. Alan Hirahara, MD, FRCSC for regular ultrasound-guided injections since November 2008 for pain relief and to stave off additional surgeries.
My treatments have been successful because we’ve been able to forego any additional surgeries and I’ve had 20 surgeries of one sort or another, lumbar fusions, shoulder replacements, the hip replacements, 10 hernias, so I’m not really running too quickly to get any more surgery.” Bob explained during a recent visit to Dr. Hirahara’s office. “The longer I can put this off and still be able to function as well as I do, the better. I’m very happy with the way Dr. Hirahara has continued to treat this.”
Bob has been receiving injections of Synvisc-One to help lubricate and cushion his knee joint.
It’s interesting to watch each time that he’s able to hit that mark and I can see the fluid expel from the tip of the needle and kind of fill that void that he’s aiming for.”
