When the Russian army invaded Ukraine, the Volkau, Kovaliova, Shepelevich, Herasymov, and Chaudhry families sprang into action to see how they could help relatives in the region. They discovered their cousins, Doctors Volodymyr and Elina Herasymov were urgently seeking a portable ultrasound device to take with them when treating those injured in the war.
Since the start of the war, my family kept asking how we can help,” says Elly Kavaliova. “We found out that our cousins needed a portable system to take with them when they were treating people who were wounded and left on the streets. So, we decided to organize fundraising to buy them a scanner.”
Elly worked with her cousins to find the right device. “In our research, we discovered one of the most reputable and reliable portable scanners are Clarius devices produced in Vancouver, Canada,” she explains.
She contacted Clarius for pricing information and in less than a month, Elly and her family, friends, and colleagues raised the funds necessary to purchase a Clarius L7 HD with an advanced software package. Elly shared her appreciation:
Special thanks to Shelley Morris and her Manager from Clarius Mobile Health. When they heard about our humanitarian mission, they gave us a very deep discount, which allowed us to have savings that the City Clinic will use to buy medical supplies for those in need.”
Dr. Volodymyr Herasymov recently recorded a video to thank his family, friends, and Clarius for their efforts.
I’m extremely helpful to my family for organizing the funds, for their incredible efforts and help, for their love for us, and the time spent,” says Dr. Volodymyr. “From the bottom of my heart, I thank absolutely everyone who was a donor of financial resources. I am immensely happy that my country was not left alone in the fight against the aggressor.”
I would also like to thank Clarius for their ultra modern and high-quality device we now use everyday in our work and for providing a high level of service,” he continues. “This device allowed us to be quick and accessible with our diagnosis; we also use it in the operating room.”
