Ultrasound for Sports Medicine: Guiding Safe, Accurate PRP Injections in the Elbow, Knee, and Back
SEMINARIO WEB BAJO DEMANDA
Vea el video
Sports medicine educator Dr. Frank Johnson will teach effective ultrasound techniques to guide platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections for elbow, knee, and back pain with real-time visualization of anatomy and your needle.
In this 1-hour webinar, you’ll learn how to use high-resolution wireless ultrasound to improve the accuracy of your PRP injections, reduce the risk of complications, and deliver optimal pain relief for patients. Dr. Johnson will share 3 patient cases recently captured on video to teach:
- How to perform a medial elbow PRP injection avoiding the ulnar nerve common flexor origin
- Imaging techniques to accurately aspirate a knee effusion followed by a joint PRP injection
- Common etiologies and clinical presentations of low back, hip, and gluteal pain
- The ultrasound appearance of pathologies such as bursitis, tendinopathy, and joint-related issues
- Practical aspects including patient positioning, probe selection, and image optimization
- Step-by-step techniques and strategies for performing ultrasound-guided injections, including choice of therapy, needle placement, and relevant anatomical landmarks
Research shows that pain medicine injections performed blind have miss rates as high at 30%. Join sport medicine expert Dr. Frank Johnson to learn how to use high-definition wireless ultrasound to guide accurate RPR injections and get your patients back on track and back in the game faster.
In the field of sports medicine, effective diagnosis and treatment of joint pain are paramount to ensuring an active lifestyle and overall well-being. Traditional approaches to injections rely on anatomical landmarks, which can be imprecise and lead to suboptimal outcomes, with miss rates as high as 30%. A rapid growth in literature regarding the use of ultrasound-guided vs traditional landmark-guided injections demonstrates the increase in accuracy with ultrasound use. By attending this webinar, healthcare professionals specializing in sports medicine, orthopedics, and pain management will gain valuable knowledge and insights into the efficacy of ultrasound-guided PRP injections.
In the first patient case Dr. Johnson presents, he will use ultrasound to visualize a small delaminating degenerative tear inside the common flexor origin. He’ll demonstrate how to avoid the ulnar nerve and perform a safe and accurate medial elbow PRP injection.
In his second patient case, Dr. Johnson will share tips and tricks for treating a knee effusion with great accuracy. He’ll show how to clearly visualize your needle tip within the effusion, between the quadricep tendon and pre-femoral fat pad, for an effective ultrasound-guided aspiration. And, he’ll demonstrate how to accurately inject the PRP within the knee joint fluid using ultrasound. His patient’s PRP injections have been so successful, she’s delaying knee replacement surgery while still enjoying soccer.
Finally, Dr. Johnson will share his comprehensive approach to treating his patient suffering from low back, hip, and gluteal pain . He’ll demonstrate how to use ultrasound to guide his patient’s lumbar facet PRP injections and intraarticular and antialignment PRP injections with clear visualization of target anatomy, while avoiding danger zones like the neural foramen at S2.
Dr. Johnson will be joined by your Clarius host and sonographer Shelley Guenther. They will show you how to take your imaging and procedural skills to the next level with accurate ultrasound-guided injections and interventions. You’ll build practical skills that you can use to help deliver maximum pain relief for your next patient. Don’t miss this webinar – register today!
