Scan the gallbladder in patients with epigastric, right upper quadrant, or right flank pain or have unexplained sepsis or delirium. Follow the caudal edge of the liver from its medial tip and identify the gallbladder connected to the portal vein. Biliary findings can range from cholelithiasis to cholecystitis to signs of choledocholithiasis.
