Dr. Alan Hirahara, board certified in orthopaedic and sports medicine, teaches how to perform Achilles injections into and around the tendon using high-resolution ultrasound to optimally visualize anatomy, your trajectory, and needle tip.

In this 1-hour webinar, you’ll learn how effective, easy, and affordable it is to add handheld wireless ultrasound to your orthopedic, physical medicine or pain management practice. Dr. Hirahara uses a cadaver ankle to demonstrate injection and surgical techniques using ultrasound to improve results. You’ll learn:

  • How to locate and image the Achilles tendon using high-resolution ultrasound
  • Ultrasound-guided injection techniques into and around the Achilles tendon
  • Optimized ultrasound techniques for the best visualization of your needle
  • How using high-resolution ultrasound can ensure a successful repair with a PARS Achilles Jig System

Avoid inaccurate or imprecise injections or procedures by visualizing anatomy in real-time. Ultrasound can ensure that pain medicine injections are peritendinous or that biologics are placed precisely at the site of injury. Using high-definition wireless ultrasound has been shown to increase accuracy and decrease the pain and anxiety associated with blind injections, making procedures quicker and easier.

Achilles tendinopathy is a common painful condition usually resulting from overuse. There are several percutaneous treatment options available to treat Achilles tendinopathy, including PRP, stem cell therapy and Prolotherapy, and according to the AJR (American Journal of Roentgenology), the use of ultrasound to direct these treatments improves accuracy and effectiveness. Join Dr. Hirahara as he demonstrates how handheld ultrasound can improve the success of Achilles tendon interventions.

On March 28, Dr. Alan Hirahara, MD, FRCSC, invites fellow orthopaedic surgeons, regional anesthesiologists, sports medicine experts, and all clinicians who perform MSK procedures to learn how handheld ultrasound can be used to guide their needle for more effective and longer lasting pain relief.

Dr. Hirahara is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon, sports medicine expert, and educator extraordinaire, and has been using ultrasound in his practice for over a decade. He is passionate about finding new and exciting uses for ultrasound to improve injection techniques and surgery results for his patients.

Dr. Hirahara is be joined by your Clarius host and sonographer Shelley Guenther. They show you how to take your imaging and procedural skills to the next level with accurate ultrasound-guided injections and interventions and help you build practical skills that you can use to help your next Achilles patient get back on their feet!
