For 15 years, Dr. Souhail Jaziri has been using ultrasound to guide his WALANT (Wide Awake Local Anesthesia No Tourniquet) procedures providing 40 to 60 patients per day with optimal localized pain relief while allowing movement for the best surgical results.

In this 1-hour webinar, you will learn how easy it is to use handheld ultrasound to minimize patient discomfort and create the best conditions for successful hand surgery. Dr. Jaziri shares his expert techniques and explore:

  • How WALANT can optimize your pre-op routine
  • How WALANT can increase patient safety and comfort
  • To identify target anatomy with handheld ultrasound for a successful WALANT procedure
  • How ultrasound assisted WALANT can optimize hand surgery results
  • Accurate ultrasound guided planning and injection techniques

Join Dr. Souhail Jaziri to learn how anesthesiologists can use ultrasound-guided WALANT techniques to improve local anesthesia results and procedural outcomes. Get expert ultrasound scanning tips to optimize pre-op care for hand surgery.

WALANT (Wide Awake Local Anesthesia No Tourniquet) is a surgical technique that has been used widely in Europe and is relatively new in the Unites States. The technique is used to treat a series of hand and wrist injuries and wounds. It offers a series of advantages when compared to its alternatives of full sedation or local anesthesia with a tourniquet.

In this live webinar, Dr. Jaziri shows how the ultrasound guided WALANT technique increases patient’s comfort, as it minimizes pain during the administration of the anesthetic and leaves the patient’s hand fully functional, affecting only the very spot to be operated on. WALANT also eliminates the need for a tourniquet, which has been proven to cause pain and discomfort. At the same time, WALANT also increases patient safety, as there is no longer the need for full sedation.

Intraoperative diagnosis and assessment are also optimized, as the WALANT technique leaves the rest of the hand fully functional to cooperate with the surgeon. The patient can move their finger or wrist during the operation, helping the surgeon achieve optimal results.

Dr. Souhail Jaziri is a critical care anesthesiologist, who lives in Paris, France. He works at the emergency clinic Paris Ouest Hospitalier, covering around 20 to 25 emergency cases per day. Dr. Jaziri has been using ultrasound for the past 15 years, to improve patient safety and procedural success.

Ultrasonography has revolutionized the field of regional anesthesia and anesthesiology. Among other applications, handheld ultrasound improves vascular access and facilitates neural access for nerve blocks and regional anesthesia, considerably increasing patient safety and accuracy of procedures. But traditional cart-based ultrasound machines are both costly and difficult to learn. In this interactive webinar, you’ll learn how to use the affordable Clarius ultrasound wireless scanner, making high-definition imaging part of your medical practice. You’ll see how the AI supported advanced settings of the new generation of HD3 wireless scanners will automatically optimize your imaging and provide you with the best visualization of pathology and target anatomy.

Join Dr. Jaziri with your host Shelley Guenther, Medical Sonographer and Clarius Clinical Marketing Manager, who demonstrates live scanning to help you to take your ultrasound skills to the next level with techniques you can use with your next patient!
