Your Role
The Director, Production is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of all production operations. This role ensures that products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards, while meeting delivery schedules and cost targets. The Director provides strategic leadership to the production team, drives operational excellence, and partners with cross functional teams to support business growth and scalability.
This is an established leadership role at Clarius Mobile Health and includes a planned transition period. The successful candidate will work closely with the outgoing Director to support strong knowledge transfer and a smooth handover before taking full ownership of the function.
You will lead a well established, high performing team of nearly 30 people across Manufacturing Technicians, Shipping and Receiving, Inventory Control, and Manufacturing Engineering. While Clarius operates with a scale up mindset, our manufacturing floor runs at an exceptionally high standard and is highly process driven. This role is best suited to someone with high personal standards who enjoys operating in an environment of operational excellence and is comfortable leading teams where strong processes, quality discipline, and consistency are already well established.
This role is ideal for an established leader who takes pride in maintaining excellence while thoughtfully preparing the organization for its next phase of growth.
Your Responsibilities Include:
Leadership & Strategy
- Develop, recommend, implement, and continuously improve the Clarius Production System.
- Determine current and future operational needs, ensuring continuous improvement of design, procurement, and production quality control processes and documentation.
- Recruit, train, schedule, motivate, and manage the Production Team, delivering results through coaching and mentoring.
- Meet regularly with management to ensure alignment with departmental and organizational strategic goals.
Operations Management
- Oversee day-to-day production activities, ensuring high-quality standards are achieved on time and within budget.
- Manage resources using integrated resource plans and the Clarius MRP system to optimize work orders, inventory levels, and capital allocation.
- Coordinate closely with Purchasing, Inventory, and Shipping & Receiving to meet fast-paced shipment requirements.
- Resolve work and equipment problems by observing processes and monitoring production data; recommend measures to improve productivity, product quality, and reduce costs.
- Monitor production schedules, capacity planning, and resource allocation to meet business commitments.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal quality systems (ISO 13485, FDA, Health Canada, or other applicable).
- Partner with Quality, R&D, and Supply Chain to resolve production issues and support product launches.
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives for process deviations or non-conformances.
Process Improvement & Technology
- Implement lean manufacturing practices to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize workflows.
- Identify opportunities for automation, technology adoption, and process improvements.
- Develop and track KPIs to measure operational success.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Supply Chain, Engineering, and Finance to align production plans with material availability, cost targets, and operational budgets.
- Partner with HR on workforce planning, training, and employee engagement within production.
Your Experience So Far:
- Post-secondary education in Engineering
- 10 years of production leadership experience - building teams, defining objectives and driving performance
- Experience working under ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 is required
- Strong Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Lean manufacturing exposure
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent project management skills are required.
- Works well under pressure and is able to deliver on commitments and meet deadlines on several projects simultaneously.
Location:
Due to the nature of the role, this position requires on-site work. Therefore, we can only consider candidates based within a commutable distance of our Vancouver, BC office.
