Superficial to the vertebral shadow the abdominal aorta can be visualized as a pulsatile round structure, normally measuring less than 3cm in diameter. Risk of rupture increases with aorta diameter, and this case represents a surgical emergency.
this video we see a curval linear scanner placed in the transverse orientation below the Zid process and the first Landmark should always be the vertebral Shadow which is a bright white line deep screen that is shadowing behind it and then superficial to that we see a large round structure which as we scan live we see it's pulsatile suggesting vascular ideology in this case it's a very concerning abdominal aortic aneurysm measuring approximately 8 cm estimated by the dots on the side of the screen as we scan a little further we can better delineate this uh different echogenicity here in the abdomen aorta that is suggestive of mural thrombus uh with this is the true lumen in the center of the aorta itself this case represents a surgical emergency
