hi I'm Jana and today I'm scanning a second trimester pregnancy and I'm going to be demonstrating how to measure the amniotic fluid so I've already entered my patient demographics and I've already entered the patient due date based on the dating ultrasound so we're going to start and we will have an overall look at the uterus and we're searching for an area where we see a deep pocket of fluid so I'm holding the transducer in A sagittal plane perpendicular to the floor and it looks like I have found a nice area of a deep pocket here so I'm going to freeze the image I'll select the measurement tool and I'll select the AF single deepest pocket measurement and I'll place my calipers anteriorly and posteriorly here and I can adjust my measurement tool and it's given me a measurement of 3.1 CM which is in the normal range for this gestational age and that's how easy it is to measure the amniotic fluid in the second trimester
