good morning I'm Dr Ian young with tyby Wellness at of Savannah Georgia and American Academy of manipulative therapies Fellowship in muscular skeletal ultrasonography I'm here today to do a ultrasound guided dry needling procedure to the glutitis medius so what we're going to do is get a scan of the lateral hip uh take a look at the tendon and we're going to place a needle in the distal portion of the gluteus medius tendon with the help of ultasound guidance what we're going to do is take the needle and work from distal to proximal so we're going to go from the distal portion of the glut tendon into its enthesis at the greater tro caner so we're going to angle that at about a 45° angle get the gluteus medius in View and we're going to take that needle and drop it straight down into the tendonous attachment at that point we can treat with pecking of the periostal region uh for a little bit to create some new blood flow and healing
