hello I'm Dr Camilla Edwards from first opinion veterinary ultrasound this case was a domestic shorthaired 14 year old female neutered cat with a history of weight loss so here we're looking Fanning through some small intestine and we can see that part of the small intestine has this increased thickened wall here looking quite abnormal but we can follow it through to some normal Loops of intestines so we can see the gas in the Lumen there there and we can see that the wall layering is is gone in that area but we can follow it out to this normal intestine out here so this is a area of the thickened wall so we can see that's nearly a centimeter in thickness usual usually uh cats intestinal wall is is usually about quarter of that thickness okay so another view of of this where we're Fanning through this intestinal Mass so we can see that Loop of intestine here and then this thickening here and then follow that out to some normal intestine as well okay so this abnormal intestinal wall here following that out to normal intestine cranially and also normal intestine caudally but very very thick and very dark hypochoic no sign of any wall layering there and measuring from what what we could make out was possibly Lumen again measuring over a centimeter in this area of the the mass foreign so following cranially we can follow that Lumen to this Mass area you can see some normal wall layering here so where we've got normal intestine with mucosa submucosa muscularis and serosa that's measuring at quarter of a centimeter whereas quarterly this is extending out into this abnormal area so from the normal intestine out to this thickened wall here we can follow that normal intestine and then we've got thickened hypoechoic Wool with a loss of wall layering and this is in a geodunal loop in the small intestines okay so focal mass is in the small intestine in cats can be due to neoplasia or can be due to inflammatory bowel disease this appeared to be quite thick and big lymphocytoma is the most common in near pleasure in cats in small intestines that's followed by mast cell tumors and adenos carcinomas and you really need biopsy or a fine needle aspirate to get a diagnosis look
