hi my name is Shelley today I'm going to show you how you can get a left ventricular ejection fraction with the fractional shortening so I'm going to use the um phased array scanner in the cardiac preset and I'm going to get a nice peristernal view of the left ventricle before we enter into M mode I'm going to place the mline just over those walls just to the mitrol valve leaflets and when we have an image on the M mode I'm going to freeze it we can go into the calculation package and we'll measure the left ventricular inner diameter in diast as well as in syy and you'll see that the clarus app calculates the fractional shortening and then from that also gives us a left ventricular ejection fraction so there's a quick and easy way to get an ejection fraction from the parisal long AIS View
