so our patients come to clinic um and she's worried she's had some cramping and bleeding with a new iud and she's not able to identify the strings so we're going to do bedside ultrasound to see if we can localize the iud so i've got my probe on sagittally to start and i can see the iud at the fundus there i'm just rotating to see if i can see the lower portion there we go so we can see that the ig is intrauterine it's in a good position there and then if i scan sagittally or transversely rather there we go so there's the iud nicely both arms visible and the stem of the iud located perfectly at the fundness so your iug is in a great position so you've been able to quickly confirm that the iud is intrauterine in this patient who came in worried about iud localization
