in this video we see the linear scanner on a venus preset here placed on the medial aspect of the patient's leg who is experiencing some leg pain and visualized here in the middle of the field is the saphenous vein as the vein is scanned compression is applied where you can see that in the video deep to the vein the tissue is being compressed but the vein itself is not as the length of the vein is scanned down this maneuver is repeated over and over again and here we can even visualize a bit of thrombus actually in the vein that is echogenic on the screen the length of the thrombus that is suspected can be evaluated by scanning down the leg to see how far this non-compressibility goes as compared to a compressible saphenous vein for instance here where it's opening and closing with pressure and the anterior and posterior walls are kissing so to speak these findings are highly suggestive of thrombus material in the saphenous vein
