hi i'm dr camila edwards from first opinion veterinary ultrasound and today we'll be looking at how to scan the liver of a dog so to scan the liver of dog we first place the probe behind the zippy sternum and point cranially so we want to get the whole liver on the screen including the cranial part of the liver and then we fan all the way down until we lose the image and then we fan all the way up again until we lose the liver in the image once we've scanned in that plane we want to rotate the probe to get a transverse view of the liver we can see the diaphragm is now horizontal across our screen and then we can fan through first cranially and then cordially until the liver disappears in each direction and that's how to scan the liver in a dog you
