Wireless, Handheld Ultrasound Scanners Enable Real-time Imaging for EMS

Clarius is exhibiting its wireless handheld ultrasound scanners at the Emergency Medical Services World Expo in New Orleans, on Oct 3-7 2016.

One of the biggest obstacles to providing emergency care in the field is the lack of diagnostic tools,” said Branden Miesemer, a flight paramedic and medical educator in Nebraska. “Having the ability to use real-time ultrasound imaging in the field will help improve treatment and patient outcomes.”

Miesemer is the founder of EMSPOCUS. He won a draw for a free Clarius Scanner in September and was awarded his prize at the EMS World Expo.

Winning the Clarius Scanner gives me more opportunities to educate EMS providers on the benefits of ultrasound,” Miesemer said. “Since I can carry Clarius with me, I’ll be able to show people what I’m talking about whenever the subject comes up.”

Clarius Scanners are pending regulatory clearance from the FDA, CE and Health Canada. However, the scanners are ISO Certified, and early users like Miesemer will be able to use them on models for educational and testing purposes.
