so now we've turned pippi over into left lateral recumbency and we'll have a look for the right kidney so we start with the probe again just behind the zippy sternum pointing in a craniochordal position and we follow the costal arch all the way up to the lumbar musculature we're pointing much further cranially as a right kidney is is much further cranial than the left kidney and we just make small adjustments with the probe to get the longest view we can of the kidney when we've got that we can measure from the cordal pole through to the cranial pole and once we've got a reliable measurement for the length of the kidney we can fan through in longitudinal both directions as we did before then we rotate the probe 90 degrees to get a transverse view of the right kidney and again we fan through in both directions
