i'm oran frankel an emergency physician scanning the gallbladder can provide useful information in patients presenting with abdominal pain nausea or even unexplained sepsis here i'm using a c3 scanner on an abdominal preset and to perform the scan i'm going to put the indicator towards the patient's head i'm going to identify the liver edge and then i'm going to sweep the scanner slowly towards the patient's right side looking for my first sign of the gallbladder from there i like to rotate the transducer to really get that gallbladder in its nice long axis make sure i sweep all the way through making sure to definitely visualize the gallbladder neck it's always a good idea to get a second view in transverse all along looking for signs of gallbladder wall thickening stones or a sonographic murphys to help facilitate my diagnosis you
