patients present to my ER with chest pain the ultrasound provides a critical adjunct tool that enables me to diagnose sometimes life-threatening causes of chest pain and immediately jump into action my chest pain protocol starts always with a parisal long axis view here I'm looking for a paracardial diffusion any decompensation or change in left ventricular function enlargement of the right ventricle or enlargement of the LV outflow tract I'll often complement it with a quick short AIS View and from here I'll go change my preset quickly to the Deep lung I'm going to do a quick view of the lungs here on the lung deep setting I like to capture three views on each side of the chest looking for a lines or B lines and from here I'm going to toggle to the linear array with a button and lastly look for a numa thorax with a higher resolution linear array to check for my last possible cause of chest pain that I can see with the ultrasound as you can see this approximately 30 second scan enables me to quickly identify any life-threatening causes of chest pain much faster than any of my other diagnostic tools that I have available
