Scan one or both kidneys to evaluate for hydronephrosis in patients with flank pain, urinary symptoms, or suspected pyelonephritis. At the level of xiphoid process easiest to start with probe parallel to ground against the bed and slowly slide anterior along the patient’s side to find the kidney.
