Join Dr. John Fowler, orthopedic hand surgeon and passionate ultrasound advocate, for a practical, evidence-based webinar on using high-resolution ultrasound to assess the median nerve in the diagnosis of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), right at the point of care.
This 1-hour webinar will explore the essential skills you need to confidently assess and diagnose carpal tunnel syndrome using handheld ultrasound. You’ll learn how musculoskeletal ultrasound can help you:
- Replace the referral with a real-time answer. Understand how point-of-care ultrasound allows you to visualize the median nerve and measure its cross-sectional area
- Master the key measurements that matter. Learn how to measure median nerve cross-sectional area (CSA) at the pisiform level and calculate the wrist-to-forearm ratio (WFR), two validated, evidence-based metrics that allow you to grade CTS severity and guide next steps.
- See what’s driving the compression. Discover how ultrasound lets you identify structural contributors to nerve entrapment — including tenosynovitis, ganglia, and anomalous anatomy.
- Build a complete CTS workup into your everyday workflow. Explore a streamlined, reproducible scanning protocol for the wrist and carpal tunnel that can be performed in the exam room in minutes.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is among the highest-volume musculoskeletal diagnoses in outpatient practice, and one of the most delayed, due to dependence on specialist referral for confirmation. A growing body of evidence supports ultrasound as a non-inferior alternative to electrodiagnostics, with the added advantages of patient comfort, real-time structural assessment, and immediate clinical integration.
Ultrasound allows clinicians to see nerve pathology directly. Whether you are managing a straightforward case or navigating atypical presentations, imaging the median nerve gives you information that clinical exam alone simply cannot provide. As patients increasingly expect fast, minimally invasive answers, ultrasound offers not only better medicine, but a smarter, more efficient diagnostic pathway.
Whether you’re looking to reduce your reliance on electrodiagnostics, improve confidence in diagnosing hand and wrist complaints, or simply add a high-value skill to your POCUS toolkit, this session will provide practical strategies you can bring into your clinical practice right away.
Dr. Fowler will be joined by your Clarius host Shelley Guenther. Don’t miss this opportunity to expand your diagnostic capabilities and deliver faster, more accurate carpal tunnel assessments using wireless ultrasound.
