i'm oran frankel an emergency physician point of care ultrasound provides a powerful tool for visualizing my target nerves and its surrounding structures to help guide my procedures in a much safer fashion in this example i'll show how to find the radial nerve in preparation for radial nerve block i'm using a linear scanner on the nerve setting and i'll place the transducer in the transverse orientation here first identifying the radial artery i know that the radial nerve is usually in the radial location to the radial artery meaning it's going to be here on the lateral aspect and then i can follow that structure proximally until i watch it diverge from the artery itself giving me a perfect landmark spot where i can insert my needle in real time in the mid forearm avoiding any risk of inter-arterial injection or damage to the surrounding structures you
