Our developers were the brains behind the first PC-based platform. Now, they’re reinventing ultrasound with AI.

An interview with Marie Claire Gabriel, Director of Project Management

A few weeks after I started at Clarius, a radiologist/nuclear medicine physician spoke about how he had taken a Clarius scanner to a surgical mission in a developing country. In the 14 years the mission had been running, the Clarius scanner was the first medical imaging device the doctors were able to use, helping aid in initial diagnoses, confirming a diagnosis pre-operation, and even providing imaging during operation. I knew I had made the right decision to join Clarius when I first signed on, but this story of how Clarius technology was helping to bring a higher level of healthcare to emergent nations confirmed this company was going to be a good place to work.
The day the R&D team got to take a well-deserved break and ran around Vancouver playing The Amazing Clarius “Scan”venger Hunt using the technology we had built here.
Taking our third generation scanner, HD3, from just an idea to a full product in the hands of customers within 15 months. We iterated on conceptual design, prototyping, and testing, then completed regulatory approvals relatively quickly, and continued to have the only octal beamforming handheld ultrasound scanner with the best image quality on the market at the end of that project.
Getting to work with a group of people who are extremely smart and creative, and pulling together to complete projects that have challenging deliverables, deadlines, and expectations – all while coming out on the other side genuinely still liking and respecting each other!

Flexible Workplace

Clarius believes that a flexible workplace focuses on results rather than hours worked. Most employees have the flexibility to choose their work hours, whether they work from home or in the office or hybrid. For employees whose jobs require them to be in the office, they have the flexibility to choose an early or later start. All employees have the autonomy to manage their time in a way that encourages balancing work requirements with personal commitments.

Professional Development Program

In our commitment to continuous learning, Clarius provides employees an annual benefit towards their professional development. This is available to full-time employees as soon as they start with us. To further demonstrate our commitment to this program, we have removed financial barriers for participation. What this means is that rather than having to wait for reimbursement, employees have the option to have Clarius purchase the course upfront.

Recognition

Taking the time to celebrate our success and giving recognition comes in many forms at Clarius. We hold a bi-weekly virtual Friday Social where employees are given the opportunity to give a shout-out to fellow employees.  In our Quarterly Business Updates, we recognize employees who have reached a milestone with Clarius. They can choose from a variety of gifts including, tickets to local activities. At the year end, we have recognition awards for employees who exemplify our values.

Team Events

Clarius Culture Committee organizes special and team building events for employees. We hold winter and summer events as well as staff sports events; participate in the Sun Run and run team outdoor yoga classes. We have held virtual walking challenges to provide the opportunities for our remote employees to interact with other colleagues.
