ACL Block #2 – Genicular Nerve

This video shows a superolateral genicular nerve block to provide post-op pain relief to the sensory branches of the knee joint while preserving quadricep muscle strength.

now we want to see coming just above the knee we're going to find the femur and we're going to come in and go right above the femur this is the lateral superior lateral genicular nerve decrease our depth a little bit here so we can see it better right there okay rocky do a little prep chlorhexidine a little infiltration needle all right man this one stings like crazy one two three all right sorry that one burns all right come in we got to get kind of close to the probe a little closer than i normally do actually have to turn that around so make sure my needle's coming in from the left side just like it is make it easier to see this needle's hard to find with this approach sometimes i can't there it is okay here's our needle it's kind of hard to find but now we can see it see the tip down there near the near the femur here okay let's inject five cc's rocky and we just spread right along top of the femur here there we go there we go see it spreading down through there another five getting good spread five more [Applause] so we do 15 cc's in the ipac and 15 cc's in the genicular and then we'll go up and put our dr catheter in next
