now we'll have a look at how to scan the bladder so we place the probe along the ventral midline pointing crania to caudal in the caudal abdomen and immediately we can see the bladder here up through the bladder we can see the the colon the descending colon which is slightly towards the left hand side of the body so from this position we can fan all the way through the bladder in both directions down towards the table is a good area where we might find stones for example then once we've scanned in that plane we can rotate the probe so we're now getting a transverse view and we're also getting a transverse view of the colon beyond the bladder and again we can fan all the way cranially and all the way quarterly in a male dog this is where we'll find the prostate finally with the bladder it's always important to get a dependent view so we place the probe looking through the bladder down towards the table and we'll see the the gravity dependent view where we'll see any stones or sediment that's fallen to the dependent side you
