hi i'm camila edwards i'm going to demonstrate how to use the clarius c7v to scan the spleen on a dog so we start with the probe behind the zippy sternum we follow the costal arch past the stomach until we reach the spleen once we reach the spleen we want to see the head of the spleen which has a habit of hiding deep under the cage so we need to fan under the rib cage until we get this nice shark tooth view so we can see the anechoic blood vessels running through it we can see that it runs between the stomach and the left kidney which is there once we've had a good look at the head we point the probe down towards the table we rotate the probe so that it's pointing longitudinally down the spleen and we follow the spleen by scanning fanning sliding fanning sliding fanning until we reach the tail sometimes we might need to go round the dog to get to the tail of the spleen i'm going to reduce the depth here because we're now scanning quite superficially here we've got the tail of the spleen there we rotate 90 degrees and then we follow spleen back towards the head that way we can be sure that we've seen the head underneath the rib cage we've seen the body and the hillis of the spleen where the blood vessels enter and leave and we've followed it all the way down to the tip of the tail in longitudinal view we've rotated the probe and followed it back in transverse you
