hi my name is shelly today i'm going to show you how to get an m mode of the fetal heart as well as measure the heart rate from the m mode so the first thing we want to do is get a nice picture of the baby's heart from here i'm going to go into the mode settings and select m mode we want to place this line over one of the moving structures in this case is a valve and we're just going to watch the m mode until we get a nice tracing of that motion from here we can go into the measurement icon select fetal heart and measure one of the peaks you can always make some fine-tuned adjustments and we're getting a heart rate of 134. so i'm going to take a picture of that to make sure that it goes into the report i'm also going to show you a new feature that we can use called hd zoom again i've located the fetal heart i'm going to go into the settings and choose this magnifying glass with the plus sign that's going to give me a region that i can adjust the size of i want to include the heart in that region we'll double tap and that gives me a nice high definition image of the baby's heart here we can actually see the valves opening and closing so again we can do the same sequence again enter into m mode place our line over the valve in this case freeze the image select heart rate and again we're going to measure the baby's heart rate just one cycle and that's showing me 133 beats per minute save it to the report and we're done
