Dr. Oron Frenkel, MD

A quick scan can rapidly identify signs of plantar fasciitis and diagnose this painful condition.

Specialties: MSK, Podiatry, Primary Care
Applications: MSK
in patients presenting with heel pain the plantar fascia can be quickly identified and measured with the ultrasound using a linear scanner on a plantar or msk preset i'm going to place it in a longitudinal fashion right over the calcaneus and here we can quickly and easily see the plantar fascia pop into view i can even take a quick freeze and drop calipers on to measure the thickest aspect of that fascia here well below what we worry about for plantar fasciitis the scan is completed by making sure that i visualize the entire lateral aspect going all the way to the medial and lateral aspects of that plantar fascia and i can rock the transducer back and forth to make sure that the fat pad is nice and supple just outside of the plantar fascia itself and as we can see in this healthy patient no obvious pathology was identified you
