hi i'm dr camila edwards from first opinion veterinary ultrasound today we'll be looking at how to find the left medial iliac lymph node to find the left medial iliac lymph node we first need to find the aorta so we look in the middle of the abdomen looking up at the dorsal spine and we'll find the aorta running along just underneath the spine we find an anechoic tube in this image at the moment we've got a bit of a transverse view through that tube so we just want to rotate slightly to get a longitudinal view through the aorta so that it runs across the whole screen we can follow that tube quarterly until we get to the aortic trifocation so here we can see the external iliac artery leaving the aorta and we've got the left branch here we can release the pressure slightly that can make the lymph node more obvious the lymph node is slightly hypoechoic and lies along the external iliac artery once we see that hypoechoic structure we can freeze and then we can perfect that image and take a measurement in that area so the left medial iliac lymph node lies up against the external iliac artery at the aortic trifocation is slightly hyperechoic compared to the surrounding tissue but can be very difficult to see when it's normal it is more obvious when it's pathological and that's how to find the left medial iliac lymph node you
