I'm oron Frankle an Emergency Physician the parisal short axis is an additional view we can get with just a quick turn of the probe to get us additional information about cardiac function and chamber size to generate the view I'm going to start with my peristernal long AIS view that I've previously optimized and with the valves in the center of the screen all I have to do is rotate that transducer about 90° to get that left ventricle in a nice cross-sectional view from here I may have to slide the pro a little bit down towards the feet and rock it a bit to get the left ventricle right where I want it to really see the perfect spot of the papillary muscles just past the mitro valve with the left ventricle and right ventricle in perfect view and you can see a great concentric view of the left ventricle with the papillary muscles all the way out to the lateral wall with the right ventricle next to it we like to joke it's the donut and the croissant
