This is a video demonstration of how to scan the right kidney in the sagittal and transverse planes.
Hi, I'm Jana and today I'm going to be doing a demonstration of how to scan the right kidney. I'm going to be using the C3 scanner and the abdomen preset. I'm going to start with my patient in a supine position and we're going to scan the right flank. We're going to come a little bit more posteriorly and we can see the kidney, the right kidney in a sagittal view.
Going to ask my patient to take a deep breath in.
And this brings the kidney down below the diaphragm and gives us a more clear image. We're going to scan all the way anteriorly sagittally in the sagittal orientation and all the way posterior and breathe. Now I'm going to ask my patient to roll onto the side.
Depending on your patient body habitus, um you can try a few different positions to make sure that you're seeing the entire kidney. So and we can also use the liver as a window as it provides us with a nice clear image of the kidney. And again, take a deep breath in.
And we'll scan all the way anteriorly and posteriorly in sagittal. If we rotate our scanner 90°, we can view the kidney in a transverse orientation. And we'll scan all the way to the upper pole and down to the lower pole.
