hi i'm dr camila edwards from first opinion veterinary ultrasound and today we'll be looking at how to scan the duodenum in a dog to find the duodenum in a dog we look up from the most dorsal aspect on the right hand side of the body and we slide slowly ventrally we might come across some ascending colon first but the first loop of small intestine that we come across will be the duodenum we can see some peristalsis in the duodenum here we can freeze the screen to take a measurement from the edge of the lumen to the edge of the sarosa and we can follow the duodenum in longitudinal quarterly to the coral flecture or we can follow it cranially underneath the ribs down towards the stomach and the pyloro duodenal junction there as it turns the corner the cranial fletcher down towards the pyloroduodenal junction we follow it back up into longitudinal we can also get a transverse view if we rotate the probe 90 degrees we can see the transverse view at the top of the screen there and that's how to scan the duodenum of a dog you
