i'm oran franklin emergency physician point of care ultrasound provides an incredible tool for visualizing nerve targets surrounding structures and helping guide my needle in real time to safer and more effective procedures in this example i'll show how to find the median nerve in preparation for a medial nerve block i'm using a linear scanner on a nerve setting placing the transducer and the transverse orientation near the wrist and there's many structures that are potential looking like nerves but only one keeps its honeycomb feature as i scan further proximal up the forearm and usually there is no vessel associated with it i can find my ideal location where then i can hold the transducer clean the skin and insert my needle in real time delivering a medial nerve block to help facilitate the management of the pain or procedure that i need to do in this patient you
