hi my name's esther i'm going to be showing you how to do a complete thyroid exam today i start on the right side of the thyroid go to the mid portion and i take a measurement of the width of the thyroid i press the measurement tools in the bottom left hand corner of the screen i select distance and do the width of the gland i then turn my scanner to a sagittal plane find the mid portion of the thyroid go to the measurement tools on the lower left hand side of the screen and do the length and the ap measurements now i fan my scanner medially for the medial portion of the thyroid take a picture and then i go to the lateral aspect of the thyroid and take a picture of that as well to complete the right side i go to the transverse plane by turning my scanner and i sweep from inferior to superior once i find the inferior portion of the thyroid i take a picture i move up to the mid record a picture and then i scan to the superior portion of the thyroid and that will be the final picture of the right side of the thyroid once you're completed with the right side you proceed to the left and obtain the same images that you did on the right
