Clarius Partners with Savvik Buying Group to Enable First Responders with Affordable Wireless Ultrasound

Pre-Hospital ultrasound assessments enable first responders to assess patients and triage care when every second counts

Vancouver, BC, February 28, 2025 – Clarius Mobile Health, the inventor of high-definition handheld ultrasound systems, has signed an agreement with the Savvik Buying Group to save its emergency medical services (EMS) members time and money when purchasing Clarius wireless scanners. Small and ultra-portable, Clarius wireless ultrasound scanners help trained emergency service professionals expedite diagnoses and triage in emergency situations.

“We’re located in a rural area that’s between 30 minutes to 2 hours from hospitals so using ultrasound to assess our patients before we decide where to take them can be a life-or-death decision,” explained Anthony Luk, Battalion Chief at Loving County Ambulance in rural Texas. “It helps us decide if our patient needs to be helicoptered to a level one trauma center or if we can treat them at the local hospital.  Clarius ultrasound has been great for us because it’s wireless and anybody on our team can easily connect to it with their phone or tablet.”

The Savvik Buying Group is a non-profit organization formed to negotiate group purchasing discounts for U.S. based organizations and agencies looking to source supplies, equipment, and services for less. It currently has more than 16,000 members including ambulance services, fire departments, first responder groups, law enforcement, industrial emergency response teams, and other organizations related to the EMS industry. Clarius is the only handheld ultrasound company with a Savvik contract.

“Ultrasound is an extremely valuable and underutilized tool to help first responders make critical patient decisions,” says Tony Titus, Chief Commercial Officer of Clarius. “Savvik is a trusted organization, and we’re delighted to be working with them to help enable more first responders to access Clarius’ class-leading technology.”

Since its introduction, the Clarius PAL HD3 dual-array wireless scanner has become a popular choice for first responders who use it to quickly assess cardiac activity, detect pneumothorax or internal bleeding, evaluate abdominal pain and vital organs, assist in airway management and streamline vascular assessments and line placement. One-touch live telemedicine with hospital clinicians provides a second opinion and prepares the ER for triage.
