Having practiced physiotherapy for 14 years, Cheryl Hull had heard a lot of opinions about the clinical usefulness of ultrasound. It wasn’t until she witnessed her mentor’s practical application that she saw how it could be useful for her practice.
I got my own ultrasound because I was amazed at the gift that that was to both our profession and for patients,” Cheryl says.
“I’ve been using it for a year now. I would say I use it in probably pretty much every single one of my pelvic floor assessments. And then also in follow-ups, I use it a ton too. People are like, “I think I’m doing it right. Can we check?””” And then you’re like, “That was way better than last time. TA is moving it’s supposed to.” And it gives them confidence, gets them to keep going and then improving on it.”
Cheryl chose to purchase a Clarius C3 HD3 wireless ultrasound scanner because “most of the pelvic floor physios I work with use the Clarius system. I think that is probably the most common one that I’ve seen in practice amongst my peer group. I didn’t shop around because I felt that it was a great system. I felt that it was user-friendly and it’s had great feedback with my colleagues and peers.”
