We’re pleased to announce the release of App 13.1, which integrates a total of 30 AI models, the largest portfolio of any handheld point of care ultrasound. This release represents a major innovation milestone for Clarius and our users, automating routine measurements that have high clinical value, highlighting anatomy in real time for new users, and simplifying clinical workflows directly on iOS and Android devices.
While traditional ultrasound systems often require extensive training and time-consuming manual calculations, Clarius Intelligence features like Ejection Fraction AI show the clinical impact of these tools. By automating complex cardiac calculations in real time, they let primary care clinicians detect earl heart failure at the bedside, without waiting for hospital echocardiography.
AI in ultrasound should take the tedium out of the exam, not the judgment. Our models place the calipers, and the clinician adjusts and verifies them, says Kris Dickie, Chief Technology Officer at Clarius. „That is a deliberate design principle, not a limitation. The person holding the probe is the one making the clinical decision, and our job is to make that decision faster and easier to reach.“

App release 13.1 exclusive features:
- T-Mode™ Lung: Guides users through identifying pleura, ribs, and other key lung landmarks in real time.
- T-Mode™ Abdomen (Human): Highlights major organs and structures as you scan, from liver and kidneys to the aorta and gallbladder.
- T-Mode™ Abdomen (Vet): Adapted for companion-animal anatomy, labeling key abdominal organs and structures during live scans.
- Tissue Doppler (TDI): Assess myocardial motion with tissue Doppler imaging, including PW tissue Doppler.
- New Split Screen Views: View live B-mode side-by-side with Doppler or elastography, with synced cine review and capture across both panes.
- T-Mode Pyriform™: T-Mode™ Aesthetics now supports the pyriform region, with real-time labels for the pyriform space, SMAS, bone, and tissue plus color and texture overlays to support learning and patient understanding.
- Panoramic Imaging: Sweep across an anatomical area and get a single stitched, extended field-of-view image, with full measurement, annotation, and review support.
- Enhanced Voice Control: New voice controls to create annotations, take measurements, and change imaging modes without touching your device.
- Histogram ROI Tool: Objectively track changes in tissue by measuring pixel brightness within a user-placed region of interest, so clinicians can compare exams across visits to monitor treatment outcomes.
- Auto Aesthetics Calipers: Calipers automatically placed for easily measuring the dermis, subcutaneous fat, and muscle to track patients progress overtime.
- Automatic Intima Media Thickness (IMT): Get automatic IMT measurements in the carotid preset, with AI-placed calipers you can adjust.
- Custom Presets: Save your own preset with a custom name and personalized image tuning settings.
- Voice Dictation for Worksheets: Dictate patient demographics and worksheet notes hands-free.
- Tutorial Videos in Picture-in-Picture: Watch Classroom tutorials in-app picture-in-picture on both Android and iOS, so you can follow along while scanning.
Clinical Utility at the Bedside
The new release embeds AI across three functional tiers to tackle everyday clinical bottlenecks:
- 14 Automated Measurement Models: Eliminates manual caliper placement across cardiac, aesthetics, obstetric, musculoskeletal (MSK), and urology exams, calculating critical values instantly while leaving full diagnostic control with the provider.
- 16 Real-Time Anatomy Visualization Models: Powered by Clarius T-Mode™ technology, these models overlay anatomical illustrations and labels directly onto live scans, shortening the interpretation curve for novice users and speeding up tissue identification.
See how Clarius T-Mode Abdomen bridges the gap by delivering real-time, color-coded anatomical overlays and live organ labels directly alongside your B-mode ultrasound image, turning every scan into an interactive teaching tool.
- 4 Hands-Free Workflow Models: Integrates voice commands, automatic preset selection, and speech-to-text dictation, maintaining a sterile field and cutting down screen taps during procedures.
On-Device Speed and Software-Led Scalability
Unlike competitors that depend on remote cloud servers for image interpretation, Clarius runs its AI models locally on the host iOS or Android device. This ensures zero lag and allows clinicians to scan anywhere—including emergency rooms, remote clinics, and ambulances—without an active internet connection.
For clinicians, Clarius’ proprietary in-house AI platform shifts ultrasound economics from expensive capital replacement cycles to a software-driven model. Existing users receive new AI capabilities instantly via standard app updates, protecting upfront hardware investments.
Clarius backs these tools with established regulatory approvals, including six clearances for automated measurements and models covered under FDA clearances in the U.S. and CE marking for five AI models in Europe.
The next era of ultrasound won’t be defined by portability alone. It will be defined by intelligence,“ said Kris adds. „Thirty models is just the beginning. We’ve built the technology, expertise, and momentum to continuously advance what handheld ultrasound can do. We’re not just making ultrasound more portable. We’re redefining what clinicians can expect from it.“
Availability
Clarius App 13.1 is available now for compatible Clarius wireless scanners via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Individual feature availability depends on scanner model and regional regulatory approvals.
