For 30 years, Dr. Hickman has been performing brachial plexus blocks, and for 15 years, perfecting the ultrasound-guided approach. Learn his techniques for delivering optimal pain relief while minimizing complications.

In this 1-hour webinar, you’ll learn how easy it is to locate the brachial plexus using wireless ultrasound and how to perform 3 common upper extremity blocks with precision. Dr. Hickman will explore:

  • Three recent patient blocks performed under high-frequency ultrasound
  • Locating the supraclavicular, infraclavicular, and axillary brachial plexuses
  • How to identify vascular structures and lung to avoid complications
  • Visualizing your needle to guide safe and accurate injections
  • Pro-tips for today’s busy mobile regional anesthesiologist

Hone your wireless ultrasound skills to perfect guided blocks and avoid complications! Join Dr. Hickman as he demonstrates proven techniques to improve accuracy and quickly deliver the best pain management results for hand and arm surgery patients.

Regional anesthesiologists are often called upon to perform brachial plexus blocks as an alternative or adjunct to general anesthesia in patients undergoing arm or hand surgeries. To achieve an optimal block, the tip of the needle should be close to the nerves upon injection, without causing nerve injury (a common complication of traditional peripheral nerve block anesthesia).

Research confirms that when a brachial plexus block is performed under ultrasound guidance, « it can improve the accuracy of the block and reduce the occurrence of related complications. The real-time guidance of ultrasound has the advantages of reducing the dose of anesthesia without reducing the success rate and prolonging the duration of the block and the duration of analgesia. »

In this practical 1-hour webinar, you’ll be joining Dr. Greg Hickman as he reveals his master techniques by sharing 3 different brachial plexus blocks recently performed under wireless ultrasound guidance on real-life patients and captured on video. He’ll provide step-by-step instructions for identifying your target, planning your injection, and guiding your needle to perform a safe, accurate block. An early adopter, pioneer, and educator in ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia, Dr. Hickman has perfected the art and science of nerve blocks and will help you hone your regional anesthesia skills.

Today, wireless ultrasound is changing the game for busy regional anesthesiologists by making high-definition imaging available in their pockets for every block. Why let large cart-based ultrasound systems slow you down when wireless ultrasound can connect to your iOS or Android device and deliver an optimal mobile imaging solution for 70% of regional anesthesia procedures, and with no wires to contaminate your sterile field.

“In our world in anesthesia, we’re moving from spot to spot to spot. I’m doing blocks in pre-op area, I’m doing them in the operating room, I do them in the PACU. You have to move quickly sometimes, and you’ve got rooms turning over and moving, and surgeons waiting on you and you have to be fast,” says Dr. Hickman. Attend this webinar to learn the advantages of carrying wireless high-definition ultrasound in your pocket. Quicker procedures, less guesswork, safer injections, and in many cases less anesthetic for an effective block.

Dr. Greg Hickman will be joined by your host Shelley Guenther, medical sonographer and Clinical Marketing Manager at Clarius, who will perform live scanning to help your hone your skills. Register for the webinar today and take your procedural skills to the next level with ultrasound-guided injections and strategies you can use on your next patient!
